Weis Center Kicks Off 36th Season with Concert and Hoops with Bucknell Basketball Teams (Note: Event Will Take Place Indoors)

NOTE AS OF 9/6:Due to predicted thunderstorms and excessive heat, the Weis Center’s FREE season kick-off concert with DuPont Brass and pre-concert activities on Thursday, Sept. 7 will take place inside the comfort of the air conditioned Weis Center. All of the activities remain the same. At 5 p.m. inside the Atrium, patrons are invited to shoot hoops with the men’s and women’s basketball teams and have autographs signed, meet Bucky the Bison, meet the Bison Girls Dance team and Bucknell cheerleaders, play cornhole and enter a raffle to win a kiddie hoop signed by both Bucknell basketball teams!  The […]

Weis Center Announces 2023-24 Season of 25 Professional Performances

The 2023-24 season at the Weis Center for the Performing Arts includes 25 professional performances – including world music, classical, Americana and roots music, modern dance, jazz, soul, and so much more. All performances take place at 7:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Tickets go on sale to the public on August 24 at 10 am by calling 570-577-1000, online at Bucknell.edu/BoxOffice or in-person weekdays 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Campus Box Office’s location in the Weis Center Atrium. Jazz Supergroup Comes to Weis Center

The Weis Center for the Performing Arts will welcome jazz ensemble Artemis on Thursday, April 20 at 7:30 p.m. at the Weis Center. The performance is sponsored, in part, by Gary and Sandy Sojka, Teri MacBride and Steve Guattery, Jazz at Bucknell, and WVIA as part of their 50th Anniversary celebrations. Finnish Pianist Will Perform Works by Grieg, Ravel and Chopin

The Weis Center for the Performing Arts will welcome classical pianist Juho Pohjonen on Thursday, April 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the Weis Center. Chamber Music Ensemble Comes to Weis Center

The Weis Center for the Performing Arts will present chamber music ensemble Camerata RCO on Friday, March 31 at 7:30 p.m. at the Weis Center. Weis Center Presents Two Irish Ensembles in March

The Weis Center for the Performing Arts will present two Irish ensembles in March: Danu on Friday, March 3 and Trinity Irish Dance Company on Friday, March 24; both performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Concert Hall. Performance Review: Step Afrika!

To kick off the Weis Center’s Spring 2023 season, Step Afrika!, a traditional stepping company, brought a lively, energetic performance that dazzled audience members of all ages. Beginning with the pre-show talk allowed spectators to gain a better understanding of the traditions of the performance they were about to see. This talk also emphasized the artform’s roots in the community of traditional African American fraternities and sororities. The sense of community carried through during the performance as audience members were involved in chanting and clapping along with the artists. Americana Rock Band Comes to Campus Theatre, Part of Weis Center Series

The Weis Center for the Performing Arts will welcome Millheim-based Americana rock band, The Wicked Chicken, on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the Campus Theatre in downtown Lewisburg.   The Wicked Chicken plays a mix of driving rock ’n’ roll, old-time fiddle and blues. Contemporary Dance Company That Blends Hip-Hop, Breaking, House and Vogue Dance Styles Coming to the Weis Center, Special Rate for Local Youth Dancers

The Weis Center for the Performing Arts will present Ephrat Asherie Dance (EAD) and their new work, Odeon, on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the Weis Center.
