Performance Review: King’s Return

The Kings Return performance on Thursday, Sept. 11th at the Weis Center was absolutely unforgettable. From the very first note, their music carried such a sense of liveliness that you could feel it in every cell of your body. Each song brought a new emotion, making every second feel completely worth it.

I had been eagerly waiting since last year to see them live, and they exceeded every expectation. What made the night even more special was how they were not only insanely talented but also super goofy. I loved moments like when they called one of their friends “Jayance,” seeing him as the group’s “Beyonce” — it had everyone laughing and made the performance feel personal and fun.

Their engagement with the audience was also amazing; they drew everyone in with every note, every smile, and every interaction. One of my favorite moments was their solo piece “Beauty.” Its message — that even amid all the challenges in the world, there is still hope and beauty to be found — was deeply moving. In addition to all their beautiful songs, when they sang ‘Smooth Operator’ — my all-time favorite — I was beyond excited. Hearing it live from them was a truly unforgettable and irreplaceable experience.

Kings Return didn’t just perform tonight; they created a joyful, soulful, and inspiring experience that Bucknell will remember. Between the laughter, the harmonies, and the energy, it was truly a night to treasure.
