Ephrat Asherie and the Feeling of Growing Up

Watching Ephrat Asherie and her company at the Weis Center for the Performing Arts felt unexpectedly familiar. From the opening sequence, where the performers entered with loose confidence and settled into a shared groove, the stage carried an energy that felt both contemporary and nostalgic. Bang on a Can All Stars Performs David Lang Nature-Themed Piece with Bucknell Choir at the Weis Center on March 1

The Weis Center for the Performing Arts will welcome Bang on a Can All Stars featuring the Bucknell Choir, under the direction of Professor Caleb Hopkins, on Sunday, March 1 at 2 p.m. at the Weis Center. They will perform David Lang’s before and after nature with music and text by David Lang and video design by Tal Rosner. Dance Theater Company Pilobolus Comes to Weis Center on Feb. 26 with “Other Worlds” Collection

The Weis Center for the Performing Arts will welcome innovative dance theater company Pilobolus on Thursday, February 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the Weis Center. There will be a free pre-performance talk from 6:30-7 p.m. (note earlier start time) in the Atrium. Bucknell Dance Professor Jaruam Xavier will interview two Pilobolus dancers. The company will feature new works from the “Other Worlds” Collection, plus classic works, alongside a piece called Branches. This performance is part of the Weis Center’s year-long Trees Series. Drum Tao and the Pulse We Carried Home

Walking into the Weis Center for the Performing Arts to watch Drum Tao, I noticed the crowd before anything else. On a night when the cold felt especially unforgiving, when staying inside would have been easier, the hall was full. Families sat beside students. Faculty members greeted neighbors.
