Welcome to our 40th installment of Weis Center Sessions!
Each Friday, we release a video that features a member of the Bucknell University community. Today, we feature Isee Martine (vocals, cajón) and Aleah Spiro (vocals, guitar) as they put their own acoustic spin on the song “Hannah Hunt” written by Ezra Koenig and Rostam Manglij (of Vampire Weekend).
Aleah is a sophomore at the University of Vermont (UVM), double majoring in Spanish and Environmental Studies. She has been playing the guitar since she was 12 with some formal lessons, but mostly taught herself. She has loved singing for as long as she can remember and is part of the concert and chamber choirs at UVM.
Aleah’s dad, Mark Spiro, is a Professor of Biology at Bucknell and her stepmom, Elizabeth Durden, is a Professor of Sociology.
Aleah says, “I wanted to do a cover of Hannah Hunt for a really long time. I love how lyrically beautiful it is—I love its imagery and the melancholy story it tells. I really enjoyed playing with some of the harmonies and creating a more folky version of the song.”
Isee is a sophomore at the University of Vermont (UVM), majoring in Theatre. She plays the cajón, bass guitar, and some piano, and performed in some musicals at Lewisburg Area High School. She and Aleah occasionally jam with their UVM friend Sam.
Isee’s dad, Chris Martine, is a Professor of Biology at Bucknell and her mom, Rachel Martine, works at the Weis Center.
Recorded at and produced by the Weis Center for the Performing Arts at Bucknell University.
ENJOY!
