Weis Center Announces 2024-25 Season that Includes 23 Professional Performances

The 2024-25 season at the Weis Center for the Performing Arts includes 23 professional performances – including world music, classical, contemporary cirque, Americana/bluegrass music, modern dance, and jazz. When patrons return in the fall, they will notice a revitalization to the Atrium. This summer, the Weis Center’s HVAC and architectural lighting systems are being updated with new LED lighting and energy-efficient heating and cooling systems to align with the university’s sustainability practices. Unique Ballet/Juggling Performance Coming to the Weis Center

In a unique contemporary cirque event that combines ballet and juggling, Gandini Juggling will present 4 x 4 Ephemeral Architectures on Thursday, November 2 at 7:30 p.m. at the Weis Center for the Performing Arts. The Family Discovery performance is suggested for ages 8 and older and is 65 minutes without an intermission. It is sponsored, in part, by the Susquehanna River Valley Visitors Bureau and Geisinger. Alonzo King LINES Ballet show the Weis Center a new form of dance

We welcomed the first dance performance of our 30th anniversary season Thursday, October 12 with a dazzling production by the Alonzo King LINES Ballet company. The San Francisco contemporary ballet company boasts dancers that move with such fluidity across the stage that one number seamlessly blends into the next. The show consisted of two acts that each contained one extended piece choreographed solely by King. The first piece, entitled Biophony, was an exceptional and unique collaboration between King, soundscape artist Bernie Krause, and composer Richard Blackford. San Francisco-based Ballet Company Comes to Weis Center, Special Coupon Code for Local Youth Dancers

Alonzo King LINES Ballet will bring contemporary ballet to the stage on Thursday, October 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the Weis Center for the Performing Arts. There will be a free pre-performance talk the same day as the performance at 1 p.m. in the Weis Center Atrium Lobby. The discussion will be facilitated by Atiya Stokes-Brown. There will also be a free masterclass for advanced/intermediate local dance students on Friday, October 13 at 10 a.m. on the Weis Center stage.
