Performance Review: Yumi Kurosawa with guest Anubrata Chatterjee

Yumi Kurosawa and Anubrata Chatterjee blended together the expressive musical traditions of Japan and India in an incredible performance on Sunday, February 10th in the Weis Center atrium. The audience went on a journey of sound – from Vivaldi on the koto to Japanese edo period lullabies to Kurosawa’s original compositions. Kurosawa and Chatterjee’s collaboration speaks volumes to the unifying power of music. Jazz Vocalist René Marie Comes to the Weis Center

Jazz composer, arranger, theatrical performer and teacher René Marie will perform with her band on Thursday, February 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the Weis Center. Her band features Quentin Baxter on Drums, John Chin on Piano, Elias Bailey on Bass, and Randy Napoleon on Guitar. This engagement is made possible by a grant from Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation as part of its Mid Atlantic Tours program with support from the National Endowment for the Arts. Review: Sounds of China Performance

With all the energy of a rock band and the synchronism of an orchestra, Sounds of China brought a magical performance to Bucknell University on Thursday, February 7th. The Sounds of China Neo-Folk Music Group was founded in 2014 by artistic director Ma Jiuyue, one of the pioneers and initiators of Chinese neo folk music. Review: FROGZ! by Imago Theatre

FROGZ! is everything you could want from children’s theatre. The Imago Theatre brought on a spectacle of costumes, dance and comedy in their Weis Center performance on Thursday, February 5th. The ingenious masks, mesmerizing movement, outlandish costumes, and original music score created a fantastic carnival of the absurd. National Geographic Live: Ocean Photographer Brian Skerry Comes to the Weis Center

National Geographic ocean photographer Brian Skerry will present a multimedia presentation called “Ocean Soul” on Tuesday, February 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Weis Center. A book signing with Mr. Skerry will take place after the presentation in the Weis Center Atrium. Mexican Folk Music Comes to Weis Center in Free Family Discovery Performance

View Sonia’s new video! Mexican folk music will be performed by Sonia De Los Santos and her multicultural band on Monday, February 18 at 2 p.m. at the Weis Center. Note that this takes place on a school holiday, President’s Day. The Family Discovery performance is free and tickets are not required. Sounds of China to Blend the Traditional and the Modern

Sounds of China will perform on Thursday, February 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Weis Center.  The 90-minute performance will feature new arrangements of traditional Chinese melodies and will coincide with Chinese New Year, which denotes the year of the pig. The performance will feature a special watersleeves dance by Bucknell University students Eva Munshower ’20 and Yili Wang ’21; choreographed by Er-Dong Hu. Imago Theatre brings family-friendly production, Frogz, to the Weis Center in evening performance and schools matinee

Imago Theatre will bring its kid-friendly production, Frogz, to the Weis Center on Tuesday, February 5 at 7 p.m. at the Weis Center. The family discovery performance is suggested for ages 4 and older. The run time is 1 hour, 25 minutes and includes one 15-minute intermission. The performance is sponsored, in part, by the Public Library for Union County.
