The Weis Center for the Performing Arts will welcome contemporary cirque ensemble Circa on Thursday, April 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Weis Center.
When at the Weis Center, they will present Humans 2.0: a symphony of acrobatics, sound and light, this is next level circus by Circa. The work was created by Yaron Lifschitz and the Circa Ensemble.
The performance is 70 minutes, without an intermission and is suggested for ages 8+.
Please note: Parts of this performance will include strobe lighting and haze.
The performance is sponsored, in part, by the Press Enterprise.
Circa acknowledges the assistance of the Australian Government through Creative Australia, its principal arts investment and advisory body and the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.
Since 2004, Circa has been at the frontier of a new vision of the circus arts — creating powerful works that challenge, thrill and delight. Featuring an ensemble of multi-skilled artists under the direction of Yaron Lifschitz, Circa’s award-winning works have been seen in 39 countries across six continents.
Ten bodies appear in a flash of light. They move in harmony for a fleeting moment and then descend into a sinuous trance. Towers grow and decay, bodies leap and are caught, as physical limits are pushed to their extreme. Can we ever find a perfect balance or is adapting to constant change the only way forward?
This next chapter of Circa’s internationally acclaimed Humans is a tightly woven choreography of bodies, pulsing with music by composer Ori Lichtik and revealed in Paul Jackson’s dramatic lighting. Created by circus visionary Yaron Lifschitz, Humans 2.0 is intimate, primal and deeply engaged with the challenge of being human.
