Alicia Olatuja Quintet Comes to Weis Center in Free Jazz Performance

Alicia Olatuja Quintet will bring jazz music to the stage on Tuesday, January 30 at 7:30 p.m. in the Weis Center Atrium Lobby. The performance is free and tickets are not required. There will be a free pre-performance talk with the artist from 1-2 p.m. in the Weis Center Atrium Lobby. The performance is sponsored, in part, by David and Clayton Lightman and family. Free Children’s Performance featuring Piano Music, Storytelling, Acting, Visual Arts and Poetry at Weis Center

Pianist Qing Jiang will present a free classical program called “Children’s Corner” on Saturday, January 27 at 2 p.m. in the Weis Center Atrium Lobby. The performance is free and tickets are not required. The concert will feature piano music, storytelling, acting, visual arts, and poetry, in collaboration with Bucknell faculty and students, and Lewisburg High School students and the National Art Honor Society. Spectacular Shadow-Puppet Play Comes to Weis Center

Feathers of Fire: A Persian Epic, a shadow-puppet play will be presented on Saturday, January 20 at 2 p.m. at the Weis Center for the Performing Arts. The performance is suited for all ages and is 70 minutes in length without an intermission. An Evening with Guitarist Lenny Kaye Added to Weis Center Schedule

The Weis Center for the Performing Arts will host Lenny Kaye, acclaimed guitarist for Patti Smith Group, on Monday, December 4 at 7 p.m. in the Weis Center Atrium Lobby. “An Evening with Lenny Kaye” is free and tickets are not required. Secret Agent 23 Skidoo will bring their unique kid-friendly hip-hop to the Weis Center for the Performing Arts on Tuesday, December 5 at 7 p.m. The performance is free and tickets are not required. Future of Hip Hop Music to Be Discussed at Weis Center in Free Panel Discussion, Live Performances

The future of hip hop music will be discussed by several emerging artists on Monday, November 13 at 7 p.m. in the Weis Center Atrium Lobby. Hip Hop Happening is free and tickets are not required. The event will include a panel discussion with four emerging hip hop artists who are carving out careers for themselves: Amos Lachman, J Pope and two Bucknell University students Mansa K and Amarachi Ekekwe.  The discussion will be followed by short, 20 minute sets by each of the participating artists. Shanghai Quartet performs with pianist Qing Jiang

The Shanghai Quartet with Qing Jiang, piano will perform Sunday, November 12 at 2 p.m. at the Weis Center for the Performing Arts. Boston’s A Far Cry Orchestra to present new work written by five leading female composers at the Weis Center

The string orchestra, with vocalist Luciana Souza (pictured), perform the new work with text from poet Carolyn Forché The Boston-based Grammy-nominated string orchestra A Far Cry will present a new evening-length work called The Blue Hour on Thursday, November 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Weis Center for the Performing Arts. The Blue Hour features Grammy-winning singer Luciana Souza in a song-cycle written by five leading female composers: Rachel Grimes, Angélica Negrón, Shara Nova, Caroline Shaw, and Sarah Kirkland Snider.
