Grammy Award-winning Soweto Gospel Choir to honor the late Nelson Mandela in ‘Songs of the Free’ at Weis Center, Performance will also Feature Holiday Faves

Soweto Gospel Choir will present “Songs of the Free,” honoring Nelson Mandela’s 100th birthday, as well as international gospel classics and favorite Christmas carols on Friday, November 30 at 7:30 p.m. at the Weis Center. The performance is sponsored, in part, by Coldwell Banker Penn One Real Estate and Martha and Alan Barrick. Patrons are encouraged to come early for a free pre-performance concert by Eric Ian Farmer Trio, from 6:30-7:15 p.m. in the Weis Center Atrium. Sweet Honey in the Rock: A Night of Holyday Joy

What a way to welcome the holiday season! Grammy-winning, all-women, African American a capella ensemble Sweet Honey in the Rock returned to the Weis Center (they performed in 1992) for a December 1 performance that had everyone “Celebrating the Holydays.” Founded in 1973, and with a few member changes over its forty years, Sweet Honey in the Rock has a mission to educate, entertain, and empower through powerful a capella vocal dynamics and American Sign Language. Secret Agent 23 Skidoo Brings Kid Hip-Hop to Weis Center in Free Show

Secret Agent 23 Skidoo will bring their unique kid-friendly hip-hop to the Weis Center for the Performing Arts on Tuesday, December 5 at 7 p.m. The performance is free and tickets are not required. The Family Discovery performance is suggested for all ages and has a run time of 60 minutes, without an intermission. Attendees are asked to bring a canned food item, which will be distributed to local families in need during the holiday season. Lightwire Theater Returns to Weis Center to Present Holiday Performance

Lightwire Theater: A Very Electric Christmas will come to the Weis Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, December 2 at 2 p.m. The Family Discovery performance is suggested for all ages and has a run time of 60 minutes, without an intermission.
