Classical Music with a Taste of Cuba

Classical music is a Weis Center specialty. Our architecturally striking and acoustically excellent performance hall suits the intricacies of the genre very well and the Weis Center was able to showcase this the evening of March 22 with the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba. The performance featured Yekwon Sunwoo, renown South Korean pianist and gold medalist of the 15th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. Sunwoo also graduated from Philadelphia’s Curtis Institute of Music and, interestingly enough, performed in the Atrium Lobby of the Weis Center back in 2014. Traditional Hula Ensemble Comes to Weis Center

Traditional hula ensemble, Hālau Hula Ka No‘eau, will perform on Thursday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the Weis Center for the Performing Arts. There will be a free pre-performance talk on the same day as the performance from 1-2 p.m. in the Weis Center Atrium Lobby. Weis Center will feature art from ten local artists April 3 through May 25, part of Susquehanna River Arts initiative

The Weis Center for the Performing Arts, in collaboration with the Columbia-Montour Visitors Bureau and the Susquehanna River Arts initiative, will host a free art exhibit and installation featuring the work of ten local artists from Tuesday, April 3 through Friday, May 25 in the Weis Center’s upper atrium lobby. Participating artists will include: Annie Barnhart, Robert Brown, Pete Grimord, Joan Grimord, Gail Fox (image at left), Glen Klein, Abigail Kurecian, Sara Mika, Pam Thomas (image above) and William Whitmoyer. Weis Center Presents Final Family Discovery Performance of the Season

Air Play, a whimsical contemporary cirque performance, will float into the Weis Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, March 24 at 7:30 p.m. The Family Discovery performance is suggested for ages 5 and older. Cuban Symphony will play works by Tchaikovsky, Roldan and Beethoven at the Weis Center

The National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba will perform world-renowned classical works on Thursday, March 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the Weis Center for the Performing Arts. Australian Contemporary Circus Company comes to Weis Center

Circa, a contemporary circus/cirque ensemble from Australia, will perform on Tuesday, March 6 at 7:30 p.m. at the Weis Center for the Performing Arts. Bachata Music from the Dominican Republic Coming to Downtown Lewisburg

World musician Joan Soriano will present bachata music from the Dominican Republic on Wednesday, February 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the Campus Theatre, 413 Market Street, downtown Lewisburg.
