Weis Center’s Spring Season Includes 17 Diverse Performances
This spring, the Weis Center will host seventeen diverse performances including music from Venezuela, West Africa, Mexico, and Colombia, plus classical music, Americana and roots music, modern dance, jazz, and family-friendly performances. Four performances are free. Masks are required at all performances. Tickets for spring 2022 performances will go on sale on Monday, Jan. 10, 2022, at 10 a.m. by calling 570-577-1000, online at Bucknell.edu/BoxOffice or in-person weekdays 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Campus Box Office’s location in the Weis Center Atrium. The Hot Sardines Will Perform Timeless Classics and Original Tunes to Celebrate the Holiday Season
NYC-based hot swing jazz band The Hot Sardines will perform timeless classics and original tunes on Friday, Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the Weis Center for the Performing Arts. Masks are required. Performance Review: BalletX
On Friday, Nov. 12, Philadelphia’s premier contemporary ballet company, BalletX, performed at the Weis Center. Each of the four works brought a distinct style and dimension to the company’s work, allowing the audience to experience a truly engaging spectacle. Performance Review: Mavis Staples
On Thursday, October 28th, Mavis Staples gave a stellar performance at the Weis Center. Her unique vocal style of rock and blues captivated audience members and got everyone head-bobbing and clapping along to the beat. There was a sense of joy and excitement in the air as her voice paired with the guitars, drums, and blues medleys echoed through the auditorium. I was in awe of Red Sky’s performance of “Trace” on Tuesday, September 28th. The company’s distinct melody of magically choreographed movement and eye-catching visuals projected onto a screen behind the dancers made this presentation unforgettable. As the dancers glided on and off stage, the audience could feel the performers’ sense of unity and reliance on one another to tell these Indigenous origin stories.
