The Hot Sardines Will Perform Timeless Classics and Original Tunes to Celebrate the Holiday Season

NYC-based hot swing jazz band The Hot Sardines will perform timeless classics and original tunes on Friday, Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the Weis Center for the Performing Arts. Masks are required. The performance is sponsored, in part, by Jazz at Bucknell, Martha and Alan Barrick, and Coldwell Banker Penn One Real Estate. All attendees are asked to bring a canned food item, which will be distributed to local families in need through Union County Children and Youth Services. Performance Review: BalletX

On Friday, Nov. 12, Philadelphia’s premier contemporary ballet company, BalletX, performed at the Weis Center. Each of the four works brought a distinct style and dimension to the company’s work, allowing the audience to experience a truly engaging spectacle. Although all of the works were beautifully choreographed, my personal favorite was Amy Seiwert’s It’s Not a Cry. In this piece, two company members danced to a musical rendition of Hallelujah. Juilliard String Quartet, Joined by Qing Jiang, Will Present Works by Beethoven and Dvorak

Juilliard String Quartet which includes Roger Tapping on viola, Areta Zhulla and Ronald Copes on violins, and Astrid Schween on cello will perform on Sunday, November 14 at 2 p.m. at the Weis Center for the Performing Arts. Performance Review: Mavis Staples

On Thursday, October 28th, Mavis Staples gave a stellar performance at the Weis Center. Her unique vocal style of rock and blues captivated audience members and got everyone head-bobbing and clapping along to the beat. There was a sense of joy and excitement in the air as her voice paired with the guitars, drums, and blues medleys echoed through the auditorium. Staples said she guaranteed that spectators would leave happier than they arrived, and based off of the audience’s response, she accomplished that goal.
