First Hip Hop Happening Breaks Ground

In breaking with traditional concert norms, the Weis Center hosted its first ever Hip Hop Happening. This panel-performance brought to attention many of the political issues most commonly discussed in hip hop music in the past to lead the performers to speculate on the genre’s future in social action. Moderated by Manny Faces, a New York City based hip hop journalist and advocate, the Weis Center welcomed artists Amos Lachman, J Pope and two Bucknell University students Mansa K and Amarachi Ekekwe. An Evening with Guitarist Lenny Kaye Added to Weis Center Schedule

The Weis Center for the Performing Arts will host Lenny Kaye, acclaimed guitarist for Patti Smith Group, on Monday, December 4 at 7 p.m. in the Weis Center Atrium Lobby. “An Evening with Lenny Kaye” is free and tickets are not required. There will be a free question and answer session with Kaye on the same day as the performance at 12 noon in the Weis Center Atrium Lobby. Secret Agent 23 Skidoo Brings Kid Hip-Hop to Weis Center in Free Show

Secret Agent 23 Skidoo will bring their unique kid-friendly hip-hop to the Weis Center for the Performing Arts on Tuesday, December 5 at 7 p.m. The performance is free and tickets are not required. The Family Discovery performance is suggested for all ages and has a run time of 60 minutes, without an intermission. Attendees are asked to bring a canned food item, which will be distributed to local families in need during the holiday season. Lightwire Theater Returns to Weis Center to Present Holiday Performance

Lightwire Theater: A Very Electric Christmas will come to the Weis Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, December 2 at 2 p.m. The Family Discovery performance is suggested for all ages and has a run time of 60 minutes, without an intermission. The performance is sponsored, in part, by Coldwell Banker Penn One Real Estate and the Children’s Museum of Bloomsburg. Sweet Honey in the Rock will present a holiday a cappella performance, “Celebrating the Holydays” on Friday, December 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the Weis Center for the Performing Arts. A Far Cry brings “The Blue Hour” to life

It is very rare to witness a multitude of moving artistic parts come together so ingeniously in the name of creating one body of work. Future of Hip Hop Music to Be Discussed at Weis Center in Free Panel Discussion, Live Performances

The future of hip hop music will be discussed by several emerging artists on Monday, November 13 at 7 p.m. in the Weis Center Atrium Lobby. Hip Hop Happening is free and tickets are not required.
