GlobalFEST on the Road Spotlights Two Leading and Cutting-Edge Latin Bands

GlobalFEST on the Road: The New Golden Age of Latin Music featuring two leading Latin bands, Las Cafeteras and Orkesta Mendoza, will come to the Weis Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, February 3 at 7:30 p.m. There will be a free pre-performance DJ – Bucknell University student KJ James – from 6:30-7:15 p.m. in the Weis Center Atrium Lobby. Alicia Olatuja Quintet Comes to Weis Center in Free Jazz Performance

Alicia Olatuja Quintet will bring jazz music to the stage on Tuesday, January 30 at 7:30 p.m. in the Weis Center Atrium Lobby. The performance is free and tickets are not required. There will be a free pre-performance talk with the artist from 1-2 p.m. in the Weis Center Atrium Lobby. The performance is sponsored, in part, by David and Clayton Lightman and family. Free Children’s Performance featuring Piano Music, Storytelling, Acting, Visual Arts and Poetry at Weis Center

Pianist Qing Jiang will present a free classical program called “Children’s Corner” on Saturday, January 27 at 2 p.m. in the Weis Center Atrium Lobby. The performance is free and tickets are not required. The concert will feature piano music, storytelling, acting, visual arts, and poetry, in collaboration with Bucknell faculty and students, and Lewisburg High School students and the National Art Honor Society. Children are asked to bring a favorite toy for the toy parade. The Family Discovery performance is suggested for ages 3 and older; the run time is 60 minutes with no intermission. Spectacular Shadow-Puppet Play Comes to Weis Center

Feathers of Fire: A Persian Epic, a shadow-puppet play will be presented on Saturday, January 20 at 2 p.m. at the Weis Center for the Performing Arts. The performance is suited for all ages and is 70 minutes in length without an intermission. There will be a free pre-performance talk with the artists on Friday, Jan. 19 from Noon-1 p.m. in the Weis Center Atrium Lobby. A light lunch will be provided.
