The Weis Center for the Performing Arts will host Lenny Kaye, acclaimed guitarist for Patti Smith Group, on Monday, December 4 at 7 p.m. in the Weis Center Atrium Lobby. “An Evening with Lenny Kaye” is free and tickets are not required. Secret Agent 23 Skidoo will bring their unique kid-friendly hip-hop to the Weis Center for the Performing Arts on Tuesday, December 5 at 7 p.m. The performance is free and tickets are not required. The Family Discovery performance is suggested for all ages and has a run time of 60 minutes, without an intermission. It is very rare to witness a multitude of moving artistic parts come together so ingeniously in the name of creating one body of work. The future of hip hop music will be discussed by several emerging artists on Monday, November 13 at 7 p.m. in the Weis Center Atrium Lobby. Hip Hop Happening is free and tickets are not required. The event will include a panel discussion with four emerging hip hop artists who are carving out careers for themselves: Amos Lachman, J Pope and two Bucknell University students Mansa K and Amarachi Ekekwe.  The discussion will be followed by short, 20 minute sets by each of the participating artists. We welcomed the first dance performance of our 30th anniversary season Thursday, October 12 with a dazzling production by the Alonzo King LINES Ballet company. The San Francisco contemporary ballet company boasts dancers that move with such fluidity across the stage that one number seamlessly blends into the next. The show consisted of two acts that each contained one extended piece choreographed solely by King. The first piece, entitled Biophony, was an exceptional and unique collaboration between King, soundscape artist Bernie Krause, and composer Richard Blackford.
