A Far Cry brings “The Blue Hour” to life

It is very rare to witness a multitude of moving artistic parts come together so ingeniously in the name of creating one body of work. This is just what occurred at the Weis Center on the evening of Thursday, Nov. 9 with an exquisite performance of a piece entitled the “The Blue Hour” by A Far Cry string orchestra and vocals from Brazilian jazz singer Luciana Souza. Boston’s A Far Cry Orchestra to present new work written by five leading female composers at the Weis Center

The string orchestra, with vocalist Luciana Souza (pictured), perform the new work with text from poet Carolyn Forché The Boston-based Grammy-nominated string orchestra A Far Cry will present a new evening-length work called The Blue Hour on Thursday, November 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Weis Center for the Performing Arts. The Blue Hour features Grammy-winning singer Luciana Souza in a song-cycle written by five leading female composers: Rachel Grimes, Angélica Negrón, Shara Nova, Caroline Shaw, and Sarah Kirkland Snider.
